Our first few weeks during Term 1 2016, we have been learning all things associated with Place Value.

  1. Hi everyone,
    This week for me has been really good because we got to make a 3D city for our 2D shape monsters. Also I like how we do times tables before Maths because I’m getting better at my times tables.

    Even better if when we where making our 3D citys everyone could share more because people were arguing about who gets the sticky tap.

    EBI: 5T got to see 5S’s and 5S got to see 5T’S shapes that they created

  4. Hi,
    In Maths this week we have been working on a project with a partner. the project is about 3D shapes. In the project our aim is too complete the 3D shape city. Some students have been challenged (like me) to not use certain shapes. This Maths activity has been really enjoyable. We have got the chance to work with new people and create an amazing 3D shape city.

  5. i like how we got to start making our 3d shape city for our shape monsters so now our 2 classes can each have there own shape city with everyone’s creative ideas.

  6. I am really enjoying our 3D shape project it was really fun and I wanted to do more.
    WWW: That we got to do it in pairs and we could help each other and everyone worked well together. I liked how it was on a google doc and so we did not have to draw the shape.
    EBI: If our internet did not frustrate us and we got a bit more time so we could all came down and not rush.

    WWW: that every one was quiet and it was easy to consecrate on what you were doing and no one was talking during the test
    EBI: we had a 5 minutes more to revise our work and that we did more activities on shapes and polygons before we did the test.

    I think how we worked in math’s this week was like cool bananas:)I think it was great because even though you had to wait to get your net i think we all got at least 1 net done unless you were catching up.


    I think it would be better if we could actually connect to the right printer so that then we would not have to wait o get your net printed. Another thing would be to settle quicker when we do our times tables so that we get that little bit more time to do that one thing you always need to get done.

    Something that worked well in maths was the shape investigation because everyone had fun and lots of people finished task 2. It would be even better if everyone finished task 2 by Friday.

  10. this week I really like getting to tougher and doing tool time that was fun and working out the answers as a group. I wonder if we will do more because I like learning about shapes. It will be better if we can have more time doing it and have more tool time questions that we can all do.

    This week I have enjoyed Maths.

    WWW: What worked well is that everyone is getting quicker when we are doing timetables.
    EBI: Even better if we would listen and not interrupt Mr Talarico or Mrs Michalke when they are talking and if we can not fiddle around with things when explaing an activity or doing tool time.

    What has been working well with the two jointed classes is from day one we wasted like half of our lesson which could have been spent having a very fun time learning new knowledge. From there we have gotten down to like 5 minutes. Also as soon as we get into the classroom we are all ready with our pages ruled up without being asking and we are ready to lern with a huge smile on our faces. We are getting amazihg at our times tables and everyone is dome by the 5 minute mark. Asa induvidual learner I thought I would never get the scores that I have been getting. It would have been even better if we could be more quiet when the other people are still doing their times tables and before we are starting our maths lesson beacuse we have gotten much better but there is always room for improvement.

    I am here to say that maths is such a blast kn 5ST and that everyone is enjoying the times tables. There is a big difference between the first time we got ready for math and now.
    WWW: what works well for maths is probably the quietness we have during math.
    EBI: even better if we could get to the floor quicker so we don’t have to spend so much time on the floor.

  14. I think this week as a class 5ST did really well. We have completed lots of tasks, worded in groups and did it really good and got the work done. I think we did really well with our 9X tables this week and I would like to say to everyone GOOD JOB! It would be better if after every week we do not need to be told what to do when we do our times tables.

  15. This week we have been a lot better at getting from classroom to classroom but I still think that we could do it better. What worked well this week was that we all finished our maths activities on time and worked well. It would be even better if we had refocused when we finished our times table activity and that was a downside otherwise we are doing perfect.

    I really enjoyed Maths this week! especially the 3D shape investigation with a partner!
    WWW: I think what worked well was that i was able to learn what polygons are and that me and my partner were able to help each others out when we were stuck.
    EBI: Even better if there was more internet connection and we did’t always lose connection.

  17. This week what I loved about maths was how quiet we were when Mr Talarico was talking. I think we are doing a great job when getting into our routine transitioning from 1 classroom to the other. This week I learnt what are nets thanks to mathletics. I can’t wait to start our monster city. 🙂

    I found what worked well in Maths was that we are picking up speed from after lunch to do our timestables. I would like that we could be faster as a class and work together so we don’t get any U.O.M’s

    I really enjoyed doing the times tables this week and all weeks because I know I am getting a lot better.
    WWW: Everyone is on task and we are getting more work done efficiently. I am intrigued by maths and I believe that lots of people can become better as in approve with their times tables.
    EBI: I think that some people could start trying to work with other people and try to get to know people better. Also, they could not work with people distracting them.
    I recommend reading some other peoples comments and try to get some ideas from that.

    I am going to be telling what worked well in today’s maths session and would be even better.
    WWW: I think for me working in partners works well for me because if I have a question to ask or even if I am unsure about something, I can ask my partner.
    EBI: I think with the times tables that we have, maybe we should have a choice of what times tables we can do because I sometimes I get challenged to much and I get a bit overwhelmed as well.

  24. What worked well in the polygon and 2-D shape test was:
    1. We managed to complete our tests and we did better then our pre-test.
    2. It was silent so that everyone could finish their test without distractions.
    3. Everyone revised their work and remembered what they learnt in the past few weeks.
    Even better if:
    1. We could sit further from the person next to us.
    2. We could have a longer time period to finish our test.
    3. We could revise for a longer time and could use our laptops to revise.
    4. We could use an example of how we describe the shapes.

    I enjoyed today’s maths lesson on symmetrical sets of lines. I also enjoyed starting our project on 3D shapes. I think that working in parthners and sharing our knowledge together was the part that worked well. I think that if we could get our work done (times tables) a little bit faster, we could do more work because I really wanted to do more of the project.

    Things that works well during our math lessons is that we get to do lots of activity’s that include a team. Things would be even better if we moved in and out of classrooms quicker and a little bit more quietly.

  29. Today in maths 5ST were working on 3D shapes which stands for 3-dimensional. We used google docs to do a 3D shape investigation and we had to write one definition for each and we had to write six definitions altogether. Then we had a grid where we had to get a picture, the properties and the net and there was nine altogether that we had to do. The one thing that worked well is that everyone had fun with there partner and it could of been better if kids were listening while the teacher was talking.

    I like how this week and last week we focused on Polygons and 2D shapes which to me is very good. Also we have been doing 9 Time tables in our times table testing before Maths and so far I’ve enjoyed it.
    Even better if everyone could be a little more quitter.

  34. What worked well is that we got to make our own fun shape monster and make it up and use our creation and add it in to make a shape monster. It was fun for me because i got to finish it on time while not getting distracted :).

  35. During maths i really like how we collaborate together so like 5S comes to our 5T room for maths. I think it is a very good way for us 5T students to know what 5S does for their timetable strategy, or anything really. But during the week i really enjoyed doing the polygon test with holly, we got most of our questions right. i really enjoy the week of doing maths!
